CORRECT ME IF I’M RIGHT

Related to what we will face this week about Bali Blogger Community (BBC) launching, Anton Muhajir, one of BBC’s activist remind me to use the slogan “Mai nge-blog Pang sing Belog”. That is creative term in bahasa Bali means “Go blog be smart.” It work! And I suddenly remember about one slogan for World Press Freedom Day 2007 made by Loesje. I found one slogan that really impress “Correct me if I’m right”. So deep… for the responsible of freedom.

For me, Loesje is really interesting. My Wiki reference mention (that) Loesje is an international free speech organisation started in Arnhem (Netherlands) in 1983. Loesje went international in 1989. Its charter is to spread creativity, positive criticism, ideas, philosophical ponderings and thoughts on current events by way of short slogans on posters, signed by a fictional character, Loesje (a Dutch female name).

Loesje is currently active in over 30 countries to some extent including Argentina, Armenia, Bosnia, Belgium, Catalonia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States of America. In September 2006, people from over 100 countries visited the international website according to the statistic on the site.

The total number of people spreading posters and writing texts is unknown and for sure posters have been distributed in other countries, according to Loesje’s newsletter; however, there are approximately 500 people who receive the Dutch version of the monthly bulletin, and around 200 people who receive the international version. It is however read on the website by around 1000 people according Loesje’s international office.

At the moment Loesje’s headquarters are located in Berlin (since September 2005) and from there Loesje implements and coordinates many diverse international projects around the world.
The overall topic is: freedom of expression (that includes freedom of speech, press freedom, opinion forming and making) and to work in every country with a main artistic mean such as: music, video, photography, theatre, creative writing, street art and painting, graphical and digital design and dance and movements
Last year Loesje also exhibit some of the posters in Erasmus Huis, Jakarta

About World Press Freedom Day
With the project Loesje wants to promote intercultural learning, communication and cooperation by creating a collective book and dvd. Next to that Loesje wants to promote freedom of expression and free speech as essential human rights and to empower people to make use of it, by giving creative writing workshops, writing and publishing on the topic and to promote World Press Freedom Day.

It’s clear for us that the social movement and campaign is important to communicate in some level of understanding and creativity. Bali Blogger let’s celebrate the freedom of expression. Mai nge-blog (na’e) Pang sing belog.
